News

So what is new? I stopped updating blogger blog because I have found out that diy wordpress suits me more. More complicated things (concerning blogging) make me happier because I can customize whatever I want to. Maybe not whatever (I still know nothing about php) but a lot. I have also decided to move all posts from all my blogs (except some boring unimportant lists) to diy wordpress. I will still keep all accounts because I like exploring and finding out how things work, changing design and so on.

What do I mean by diy wordpress? - That kind of wordpress which you download, unpack, upload, set and customize ;)

What is the address of my diy wordpress? - Wait, please, will tell you soon.

Thanks for your attention and thanks to all people who ever commented :)

IELTS, oh no!

Seems like I have to do IELTS and get score 6.5 or higher :( Or TOEFL can be done instead, but after looking at a sample text I realized that it is written in some strange foreign language and have no idea what was the text about! Let's make a plan.

British Council website is helpful, says:

There are two modules, academic and general. I have to do the academic one. Band score 6.5/7.0 is equivalent to CAE exam, C1 Common European Framework level. Some time ago I have discovered that my English is closer to FCE (IELTS 5.0 / 5.5 / 6.0) than to CAE, oh no..

Price of the exam is 4700 CZK, results are valid for just two years.

Dates of exam: Dec 2007, Jan 2008, February, March, April, May, June. (Well done! I still remember names of 7 months! Lol...) So it seems that there is a possibility that there will be also July, August, September, October, November. If not, than December 2008 or January 2009. Eek, there is so little time to prepare!

How to prepare? We have lots of different subjects at school - academic writing, conversation, intensive course of English and many other. Unfortunately they are 2-semester courses :'( and I can not sign for any of them now.

Books recommended by British Council:
* IELTS Specimen Materials
* Cambridge Practice Tests for IELTS 1 (CUP)
* Insight into IELTS (CUP)
* IELTS Preparation and Practice (OUP) [there is only writing part of the book in my library]
* The New Prepare for IELTS: Academic Modules
* The New Prepare for IELTS: General Training Modules [probably don't need this one]
* L
ongman Exams dictionary with CD ROM (Pearson Longman, 2006)

Time is running...
